Biodiversity Conservation and Livelihoods

Our work in this area is to enhance community participation in and benefits from natural resources management.

We do this through conservation education, policy dissemination, anti-poaching campaigns and the provision of viable alternatives to hunting and trading in bush meat to local communities. In addition, we integrate nature protection with sustainable development strategies that encompass food security, livelihood improvement and sustainable natural resources management. To achieve this, CAD works in close collaboration with local state services, NGOs, conservation cooperatives and Common Initiative Groups (CIGs) to increase public awareness on environmental issues, training and supporting community members in business plan development, sustainable agro-pastoral activities( pig farming, poultry farming, beekeeping, organic food crop production via agroforestry and composting) and  value chain development.
